Community Care – (Major Award 5M2786 – FETAC Level 5)

This Community Care assistant Major Award equips students with the skills and knowledge to care for clients in a safe and hygienic environment. You will learn about the roles and responsibilities of the Care Worker and acquire practical skills for work in the caring environments.

You will gain an understanding of the nursing process, appreciate the models of care and develop an awareness of nursing ethics and etiquette in care situations.  In addition, you will be afforded the opportunity to further your personal development and enhance your communication skills. Physiotherapy Assistant Practice – (FETAC Level 5)

The aim of this module is to build on the background knowledge and skills, acquired in the Physiotherapy Assistant Theory module and provide learners with knowledge of specific physiotherapy interventions and enhanced skill in therapeutic handling.

On successful completion, the learners will be able to describe normal posture, patterns of movement, gait and balance and apply this knowledge to the safe and effective mobilisation and transfer of clients, of all weight bearing abilities, using basic therapeutic handling.
