New QQI Award Brand replaces FETAC

QQI Logo Update:
FETAC / QQI have announced that from September 2014 the transitional logos of FETAC – awarded by QQI and HETAC – awarded by QQI have been withdrawn. They are now replaced with the new QQI Award identity and its logo as below.
All FETAC & HETAC providers that reference FETAC and HETAC awards should now remove the old logos and replace them with the new QQI Award logo on providers promotional materials, websites and electronic and print media.
The new award identity will also appear on certificates but this will not happen until the first certification period of 2015. The wording on certificates will be identified as “QQI Award –Further Education and Training Award” (for further education and training qualifications at Levels 1-6 of the National Framework of Qualifications) or “QQI Award – Higher Education and Training Award” (for higher education and training qualifications at Levels 6-10 on the National Framework of Qualifications).
Current holders of all FETAC and HETAC awards should be assured that their awards will continue to be recognised at the appropriate levels of the National Framework of Qualifications.

Healthcare Support Attendance Classes Announced

New 2014 Classes announced for our Healthcare Support Level 5 Major Award – 5M4339.
Part-Time attendance Classes will commence on March 24th in Dublin and Cork. Options Include:
Option 1:
- 2 nights per week: 6.30 – 9.30pm (Tuesday & Thursday) and
- One full Saturday per month – 10.00 – 17.00.
or
Option 2:
- One full day (09.30 – 17.00) per week every Tuesday for 45 Weeks commencing March 24th.

Level 5 & 6 Up-skilling requirements for the Childcare Sector

Frances Fitzgerald TD, Minister for Children & Youth Affairs has announced on November 15th 2103 that from September 2015 all staff in existing services must have a level 5 qualification in early childhood care and education, and team leaders will have to have a Level 6 qualification (or equivalent).
The Open College are thrilled to be in a position to deliver new FETAC Level 5 and 6 Childcare programme which are fully accessible to participants right around the country through our online distance learning.
The Open College have been working hard since late 2012 to make sure that we have a full compliment of FETAC awards to educate all within the Childcare Industry either new or existing staff. There will be an inherent demand in the sector for this training now spurred on by the deadline of September 2015 when all staff in preschool and full day care services must have a Level 5 qualification and team leaders must have a Level 6 qualification (or equivalent).
We have over 20 FETAC/QQI Childcare and Special Needs modules to choose from. We also offer two Childcare Major Award programmes which are now requirements in the Childcare sector including two Major Awards:
Advanced Early Childhood Care & Education 6M2007 – FETAC Level 6 Major Award
&
Early Childhood Care & Education 5M2009 – FETAC Level 5 Major Award.
